Linen (Flax)

Flax is quite unlike cotton for having a very long history of being spun into fibres and being a tough, disease and pest resistant plant. Therefore, it doesn't need the use of pesticides or fertilisers anywhere near the level of crops like cotton. Additionally it can improve soil conditions and absorb CO2. Linen is ~30% stronger than cotton, making linen fabrics hard wearing and durable for several decades. It is stiff and scratchy at first, but softens with wear and wash. On top of that, linen is naturally hypoallergenic, anti-static, highly breathable and has a great moisture absorbency. From a circularity perspective, being a natural fibre, it has the added benefits of being 100% biodegradable, given there were no harmful chemicals used during the processing of the fibre.

Tencel™ Lyocell/lyocell

Tencel™ Lyocell (or lyocell) is probably the most environmentally friendly man-made fabric and it perfectly fits circular fashion’s principles, because of its closed loop manufacturing process and biodegradability at the end of the useful cycle. The wood pulp used in Tencel™ Lyocell production is sourced from organic and renewable resources certified by the Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) and is considered carbon neutral. The fibres are certified as compostable and biodegradable, and thus can fully revert back to nature. The Tencel™ Lyocell’s closed loop production process requires low energy and water consumption (lyocell production uses much less water even than organic cotton). Over 99.5% of the solvents (chemicals) used throughout the process are recycled back to the loop and the remaining 0.5% remain discharged as non-hazardous residuals. Finishing of the textile doesn’t require harmful bleaching and dying is done through a low-impact process.

What's the difference between Lyocell and Tencel™ Lyocell? Tencel is a type of Lyocell first created by Austrian licensee Lenzing AG in the 20th century, and in both cases fabrics are made of wood-based cellulose fibres.

What's the difference between Lyocell and Viscose (also known as Rayon) and is lyocell better than viscose? Yes! The key difference between these fabrics is the solvent and the production process. Viscose uses a harmful, corrosive chemical called sodium hydroxide in order to dissolve the plant-based pulp. The difference between viscose, modal and lyocell is very subtle, yet crucial for the environment, and it comes down to the production process and the final structure of the filament.

Lyocell’s properties: lyocell is a great fabric for sensitive skin, due to its smooth and soft fibres surface. The internal structure of the lyocell fibre is also more uniform which further improves its ability to absorb moisture, hence lyocell’s moisture wicking abilities keep the skin dry and make it a perfect fabric for hot destinations. It drapes well on the body, flattering every figure. It is relatively wrinkles resistant and in case any appear, it is easy to steam them away even when travelling, i.e. by hanging it in a steamed bathroom for a while. Ironing lyocell clothing is easy and quick and it’s enough to use the steam function or press using a warm setting. Lyocell is a relatively delicate fabric, which is why we recommend using a cold wash with wool/silk detergent and avoiding the dryer.

Organic cotton

Cotton represents nearly half the fibre used in the textile industry and only part of it is what is called organic cotton. If sustainably and ethically produced, organic cotton is a great alternative to a conventional cotton and it’s likely the most popular choice for an eco-textile. Contrary to conventional cotton, it uses far less water, no insecticides, reduces contamination of groundwater, poses no risk of cancer to workers, and encourages biodiversity. From a circularity perspective, being a natural fibre, it has the added benefits of being 100% biodegradable, given there were no harmful chemicals used during the processing of the fibre.

Certain certifications can help with cotton evaluation. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trading and distribution of textiles, ensuring that both environmental and social standards, such as safe and hygienic working conditions, no workplace discrimination and fair pay rates, are respected. This isn’t however the only certification focusing on organic cotton. There are also others like Organic Content Standard (OCS), Cotton made in Africa Organic, the EU Organic Standard, bioRe Sustainable Cotton or the Fairtrade Cotton.

Refibra™ (Recycled Lyocell)

Refibra™ is an innovative fabric contributing to the circular economy in textiles, certainly one of our favourites. It contains up to 1/3 of the cotton scraps upcycled from the garment production, which are transformed into a cotton pulp and then combined with the sustainably sourced wood pulp to be transformed into a new lyocell fibre. Refibra™ technology gives a second life to pre- and post- consumer sources, which would otherwise be sent to landfills or incinerated - by upcycling it into brand new cellulosic fibres. Refibra™ uses the same closed-loop process as Tencel™ Lyocell, but it includes upcycling already existing resources and allowing them to circulate longer in nature.

TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ fibres became the first commercially available chemically recycled cellulose fibres, where up to one third of pulp is from post-industrial and post-consumer cotton textiles and the rest comes from renewable forests. Unlike mechanically recycled cotton, there is no loss of quality or performance with the Refibra recycling process. All of this makes Refibra an outstanding circular material used in circular fashion.

It is breathable, lightweight, durable, anti-bacterial, water-absorbent, quick-drying, supporting the body's natural thermal regulation and remains odour-free for a much longer period than cotton, which makes it a perfect choice for the travel capsule wardrobe. Refibra™ has a good resistance to wrinkling and pilling, which translates into a garment's longevity, unless exposed directly to UV and sunlight. Refibra™ is fully biodegradable and compostable at the end of its useful cycle, being fully composed from the natural fibres.

Minimise your washing cycles by airing your clothes out to save resources and prevent colours from fading. For maximum longevity we recommend seldom washing on hand-wash programmes, with wool/silk detergents and air-drying only:

IMPORTANT: Wash on a machine hand-wash programme at 20 or maximum 30 degrees.

IMPORTANT: Use ecological wool/silk detergent and fabric conditioner to ensure longevity of your garment. Bleaching particles in conventional washing powder/liquid can damage the colour.

Do not wring, wash with a low load of similar colours and slow spinning, inside out, untied.
Do not tumble dry, air dry instead without any delay. Reshape while damp. Hang to dry. Do not bleach, embrace all colours. Do not dry clean. Iron on the reverse side with low heat at maximum 110 degrees or wear rumpled proudly. Never stop exploring, but explore responsibly.
All fabrics used in this product were decatised (pre-shrunk and stabilised) to minimise the shrinkage and deformations and increase garment longevity.

Avoid long direct light exposure to protect the colours; full sunlight will help keep whites bright, but will fade other colours. To keep the colours vibrant, we recommend soaking your laundry load in salt/vinegar water or occasionally re-dying the product with safe and natural dyes.

Being produced from a textural fabric from the natural slubs from the linen content the peeling effect might be visible with the first couple of wears - it will however slow in time. In order to remove the fabric's remains we recommend using the standard lint remover or a clothing shaver.

Circular design This product was designed following circular principles, aiming at its full recyclability and/or biodegradability at the end of its useful cycle - including such tiny details like trims or threads (you can read about them in the 'Materials & Manufacturer" section above). Circular products are designed, sourced and produced with the goal to stay in the loop for as long as possible and -when their end of lifecycle is over- to be returned safely back to the environment (either through recycling or biodegrading). By choosing a circular product, you cast your vote for conscious production, where resource scarcity is taken seriously and where brands take responsibility for the product's longevity and end of lifecycle. This way you support new business models, which ensure that the clothes you are wearing are safe and made from renewable materials and -when their journey is over- they can become the new resources by being relooped back to the system.
Produced from certified materials This product was designed with a great attention to its components, which in majority are certified. You can read more about each component in the 'Materials & Manufacturer' section above. While we are aiming at being certified ourselves, currently we rely on our suppliers and pay great attention to the materials we choose, to make sure they are healthy for you and the Planet. Even though we can't market our products as certified, we choose the best and certified materials to create them. We just find it the right thing to do and we want to be transparent about that with you.
Natural materials Natural fibres are not only better for your skin and wallet thanks to their superb characteristics, but most importantly they all come from renewable resources. Natural materials strengthen the circular system through biodegrading at the end of their useful cycle and since they easily decompose in the soil or water, they can safely return to nature where they came from. If the product is truly and 100% made from natural materials (including threads and labels), it doesn't pollute soil nor oceans with the microplastic or while degrading it doesn't leach toxins into the environment (unless such were used in the dying process). The drawback of using the natural fibres is that their colours fade faster and are more prone to discoloration, as well as they aren't as wrinkle resistant as the synthetic fibres. Luckily you can re-dye your clothes really easily and iron them when needed - hence, we are 100% happy with that compromise!
Recycled materials This product contains recycled fibres, which supports the circular economy model, where all raw materials are kept in use as long as possible. Recycling means conserving natural resources and reducing waste, while preventing it from the landfills and incinerators.
Contains Deadstock fabric This product contains deadstock fabrics, which means that it helps overcome the overproduction problems and prevent the materials from being incinerated or sent to landfills (fabric waste). By choosing what was already produced, you contribute to producing from materials already circulating in the loop and avoid producing new fibres (and alarmingly there are still many new fabrics turning into a deadstock). Deadstock fabrics promote waste reduction and mindful consumption, unless they are sourced from brands which intentionally overproduce to take advantage of the deadstock market. We do our bit, by carefully evaluating the partners we buy our deadstock fabrics from.
Easy to repair This product was designed with longevity and repairability in mind. Thanks to spare trims built into the care label or our repair kits available on our online store, it is easier to replace the damaged parts with the matching colours. Designing clothes that are easy to repair is part of our circular model, helping us increase the longevity of the product.
Part of the capsule collection - less is more Less is more. This product is part of our capsule wardrobe collections, which allows you to create more looks -matching with their style and colour- by owning less. This means reduced demand for more clothing and therefore translates into less production and less fashion waste. Choose responsibly: choose less.
End of Lifecycle - biodegradable/recyclable This product is fully biodegradable and recyclable at the end of its useful cycle and can be recycled through a chemical/mechanical cycle. For biodegrading, decompose your product from non-biodegradable elements (if there are such), shred them to accelerate the process and bury it in an active soil. Allow a few weeks (depending on the garment) for the process to begin. For returning it to recycle, simply decompose the garment into individual pieces and return to recycle. 30 Days Return Policy
You have the right to cancel and return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification, however we want you to be happy with your purchase and make sure your products will be with you for a long time ahead.
